Tupungato Team Takes on the 49th Edition of the Mendoza Cycling Tour

The 49th Edition of the Mendoza Cycling Tour is officially underway, and the Tupungato team is ready to make its mark. With the prologue kicking off last Saturday at the Government House, the competition—dating back to 1977—will conclude this Sunday in Guaymalén after eight grueling stages across the province.
Tupungato’s Hopeful Seven
Representing Tupungato in this year’s tour are seven dedicated riders:
-
Miguel Nebot
-
Jorge Rodriguez
-
Martin Maturana
-
Gabriel Maldonado
-
Leandro Aguero
-
Walter Sepulveda
-
Benjamin Silva
Under the Sports Direction of José "Pepe" Nebot and Technical Direction of Ruben Pegorín, these cyclists will proudly carry the name of Tupungato through eight challenging stages. Before the first stage in Maipú, Intendente Gustavo Aguilera visited the team at Hotel Turismo Tupungato to offer encouragement and express his gratitude for their dedication to the sport.
"It's a pretty tough eight days, covering over a thousand kilometers. The guys have been training hard. We are a humble team, but we wear the Tupungato jersey with full responsibility," said Pepe Nebot.
When is Tupungato Coming Through?
Tomorrow, the peloton will travel through the Uco Valley region, covering approximately 129.31 km. The race will pass through Tupungato at 3:30 PM, and local supporters are encouraged to cheer on their home team from the sidewalks.
The third stage departs from San Carlos, Pareditas, following RN 40 North to Calle La Argentina in Tunuyán before heading west along Francisco Delgado Street. The route continues north via Melchor Villanueva Street, reconnecting with RN 40 toward Zapata (Route 88). Riders will then pass through the Tupungato Rotonda, following Julio Roca Street and RP 89 until reaching El Álamo Street. From there, they head east along the Productive Corridor, before linking up with RP 94 for a final push toward the finish line at the Historic Manzano.
