Swedish Cyclists Gear Up for the Road Cycling World Championships in Glasgow

In the upcoming Road Cycling World Championships in Glasgow, Sweden is sending a strong contingent of seven talented cyclists. The women's lineup features the impressive trio of Jenny Rissveds, Emilia Fahlin, and Julia Borgström. Lucas Eriksson and Jakob Söderqvist will represent Sweden in the men's elite and U23 categories, respectively. Juniors Stina Kagevi and Ivan Åström will make their WC debut on the road.

With a recent Swedish Championship gold in hand, Lucas Eriksson joins the men's elite competition as the sole representative. In a challenging Glasgow circuit, Eriksson will face tough competition from other nations.

In the men's U23 category, there were uncertainties in the national rankings. Despite impressive performances throughout the year, Sweden initially did not secure any U23 spots. However, an application has been submitted, and it appears that Jakob Söderqvist will represent Sweden in both the time trial and road race. The upcoming races present an exciting opportunity to witness Söderqvist's pace and performance.

Söderqvist's notable achievements include a stage victory at the French Tour du Loir et Cher, where he broke away solo with six kilometers remaining. He also showcased his tempo racing skills with a second-place finish at the Swedish Championships in Björklinge.
